Right after the end of the 6th Sellaronda Trailrunning, the Organizing Committee is already headed for the next year’s edition that will take place on Saturday 16 September 2017 with some important news.
This event, leg of the Salomon Trail Tour Italia and of the Skyrunning Italy Series, has been confirmed once again by the International Trail-Running Association (ITRA) as a 4-points qualifying races. This was in fact the evaluation made by Itra and 4 will be the points assigned to the athletes who took part to the 2016 Sellaronda Trail Running edition who want to register for the UTMB and other prestigious trail races all over the world.
Diego Salvador, the President of the Organizing Committee is very proud of this recognition by ITRA, due mainly to the technical features of this race and to the uniqueness of its challenging 61 km route around the Sella Massif but also thanks to the many efforts faced by the Organizing Committee to make this race grow as much as possible year by year.
After the race, many have been the suggestions and critics that the Organization has collected and will certainly take into consideration for the next edition when the start will be in Canazei. In 2017, with start and arrival in Canazei there won’t be particular problems as far as time limits is concerned. While for the 2018 edition, with the start in Colfosco, time limits and running average times will be recalculated in order to allow as many runners as possible to reach the finish line in Colfosco. Diego Salvador underlines, on the other hands, that the Sellaronda Trail Running is an amazing but challenging race that must be seriously prepared by each participant. He also claims that the runners’ safety is the most important thing to bear in mind when planning the race and it could depend not only on technical features but also on external aspects such as a sudden change in weather as happened this year with the intense hailstorm on the Dantecepies uphill. Anyway the president wants to thank all the members of the Organizing Committee first and the Tourist Boards of the four Ladin Valleys for their support together with all the sponsors and all the volunteers for their help and work that make this event possible.
Great was also the media visibility of the 6^ edition of the Sellaronda Trail Running mainly thanks to a Rai Sport Troupe operating by the day of the race which broadcasted some specials dedicated to the event on the main local and Italian channels.
